ABOUT COACHING

Volunteer to Coach

We're looking for positive and enthusiastic volunteers to coach with them. Coaching a youth sports team can be a tremendously rewarding experience, giving you the opportunity to help young players learn the game of football in a fun and safe atmosphere. No prior coaching experience is necessary, as a National Flag Football Coach, you will be given all the resources and support you need to help you succeed.

If you’re interested in volunteering, you can sign up as a head or assistant coach during your child’s registration. Once you pass the background check, you will be eligible to coach and will be contacted prior to the season beginning to confirm your spot and provide you with details on the upcoming coaches meeting.

Benefits of Coaching

Coaching youth sports has many benefits, including the opportunity to help others develop their skills, build confidence, and create lasting relationships 1. It can also help you learn how to find more outcomes and improve your coaching skills. Coaching other youth sports can also help you establish your coaching demeanor, build a reputation based on commitment and loyalty to the children, while earning the respect and admiration of the families.

In addition, coaching young people can cultivate a growth mindset enabling them to deal with and overcome setbacks, boost confidence and build self-regard, encourage emotional regulation, ignite creative problem-solving skills, develop empathy skills, and enable them to understand that everyone is different.

Remember that each coach has his or her unique style, so try not to get involved unless there’s an actual danger present for your athlete. As a parent or guardian, you can support the coach and help them keep the team moving forward by setting a good example for athletes and other parents, cheering for the players, and telling the coach what a great job they did.
